Designing a business you’re stoked about starts here—welcome to The Monday Muse, your weekly guide to business, branding, and creative strategy. 🤸🏼♀️
Oh hey howdy from Portugal!
I got here late Wednesday night (after nearly 3 hours of delays – I’ve never gone through so much effort for a 2.5 hour flight). The next morning, I woke up, got all my ducks in a row, and sat down later that afternoon for my first day back to work only to find that the WiFi at my Airbnb was next to nonexistent.
In a 60 minute scramble to troubleshoot the WiFi, failing, trying to add an eSIM to my phone, failing, and trying to find a coffee shop to work at for the evening and failing there too, I finally found a coworking space right around the corner from me. It looked cute, appeared to fit my needs, and it had enough good reviews to walk in that door with very little information.
With ten minutes to spare until my first meeting of the day, I headed over and said, “hi I’m really hoping you can be my hero, the wifi at the place I’m staying is horrible and I have a meeting in ten minutes.” Without paying or learning any info, Emlyee ushered me into a space for my meeting.
After my meeting, I learned she was also running a brand, web, and SEO studio (and made organic candles on the side). While meeting other designers and studio owners isn’t the *rarest* thing on the planet – meeting someone that has a holistic approach and the same philosophy as mine, is. One of the first things she said to me was that she started out as an SEO studio but the success of that was dependent on so much more than just SEO, uhhh, helloooo, words out of my mouth? On top of that, she was from British Columbia, not far from where I grew up and went to college. Small world am I right? She’s lovely and totally apart of the people I jive with.
Over the past few days we’ve chatted, gotten to know each other, and worked on similar projects for our clients across from one another.
The law of attraction really does work.
All it took for us to find each other was:
- A (mobile) website that showed me her place was cute
- Her offer fit my needs
- Had enough good reviews to know everything was legit
- And the cherry on top was that I’d never seen something quite like this
I was sold. Sign me up for 24 hour access over the next week.
Not only that, but I just met another traveling freelancer at a really cute coffee shop, told her about the space, and she was sold too. (hello referrals!)
If I had to take a guess, I’m probably the exact person she wants to walk through her door and it sure was easy. And if it was so easy for the both of us to find each other in the tiny beach town of Nazare, Portugal, think about how DANG EASY it can be to find your people with all of the resources available to us.
All it takes is the openness to find your people, a good looking brand + website, and some marketing that’s a reflection of you and your people.
So the takeaways?
The law of attraction is simple and easy the second you step into what makes your brand you.
This past week was my reminder as to why I do things the way I do – no cookie cutter brands or projects, but a holistic approach to brands, websites, and marketing that creates the connection your community craves around the campfire.
Making it easy to find your people and serve them – just how Emlyee did for me and how that snowballed into my newfound coffeeshop friend.
I’m a little different and don’t fit into a mold, and if you’re here and this resonates, your probably the same way, making us each others people.
If you’re looking to do the same for your business, give me a shout, I got 3 spots left to launch your brand and site by 2025 (because who doesn’t want next year to be easy attracting your people) and a special offer if you work with me while I role with the punches on figuring out how to be a working digital nomad.
Stoked to see ya next Monday,
Bri
