Your Environment Matters

Designing a business you’re stoked about starts here—welcome to The Monday Muse, your weekly guide to business, branding, and creative strategy. 🤸🏼‍♀️

My environment has changed several times over the past 2 weeks.

From coworkings to paragliding hotels, and a few nights in the Sahara desert. The way each place made me feel got me thinking…

When I was at my coliving, I was in an environment designed for productivity, accomplishment, and community. Now, I’m in a paragliding hotel that has an endless view of the ocean and a playful ridge to fly, leaving me often feeling creative, calm, and joyous.

Not much English is spoken where I’m at but one of the English words I hear frequently is “quality”.

Quality flights.

Quality sunsets.

Quality life.

Leading me to slow down, have a little fun to make life quality, and make quality work while I’m here. While my last spot provoked a desire to get things done and share life with each other, from sunsets to dinner and everything in between.

These two different places have left me wanting to engage with work in two completely different ways. Really, both of these places have their own brand and they’ve created an environment around their core values.

Just in the same way the environment you work in matters, the environment you present to your potential people in order to have a flourishing business matters.

Your environment is what makes people feel. The same is true in any friendship, relationship, or mere human interaction. How you make someone feel is how you find your ideal client and inspire them to show you their credit card without a second thought (*cough cough* you make them feel something with your brand and you share that by presenting your environment with a website).

Human connection is how we, our businesses, and our clients thrive.

If you’re struggling to find your ideal client (let alone any client) I would bet that you’re probably not presenting an environment that provokes feeling and connection.

A brand is more than an aesthetic.

It’s about creating the right environment so that when someone lands on your work, they feel.

If you don’t see yourself (and, quite frankly, your soul) in the way you’re presenting your brand to the world, then it’s time to change that.

After all, we’re all craving human connection anyways.

Stoked to see ya on Monday,

Bri
